Position Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a Back End Engineer, you will architect, design, and develop the scalable, high-performance APIs and services that power AIQ’s platform. You will build event-driven systems that process video metadata at scale and integrate tightly with our AI\/ML services.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Architect, design, and develop REST and\/or GraphQL APIs and microservices that follow industry best practices, using Python (FastAPI \/ Flask) and Node.js (Express.js).<\/li>\n
  • Build video-metadata processing and event-driven systems.<\/li>\n
  • Design and optimise database schemas across relational and NoSQL stores (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, TimescaleDB, Redis) for efficient retrieval and storage.<\/li>\n
  • Implement message-broker-based pipelines using Kafka or RabbitMQ.<\/li>\n
  • Implement authentication and security (JWT, OAuth) and apply API security best practices.<\/li>\n
  • Optimise API performance for low latency and high throughput; identify and resolve bottlenecks; implement caching.<\/li>\n
  • Design and maintain CI\/CD pipelines; containerise with Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes.<\/li>\n
  • Integrate backend services with AI\/ML components and collaborate with cross-functional teams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.<\/li>\n
    • 5 \u2013 9 years of professional software-engineering experience with a focus on API development.<\/li>\n
    • Proficiency in multiple backend languages (Python, Node.js) and frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Express.js).<\/li>\n
    • Extensive knowledge of both relational (RDBMS) and NoSQL databases.<\/li>\n
    • Familiarity with API security best practices and authentication mechanisms.<\/li>\n
    • Proven ability to optimise API performance and troubleshoot performance issues.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and AWS) and a strong background in CI\/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.<\/li>\n
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Experience with data and ML pipelines is a bonus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
