About the job

Frontend Developer (with AEM / CMS Experience) – Job Description

Frontend Developer responsible for building modern, responsive, and accessible web interfaces, with hands-on experience working inside content-managed environments. The role is frontend-first — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks are the primary focus with practical experience integrating frontend work into Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or comparable enterprise CMS platforms (e.g., Sitecore, Contentful, Storyblok, WordPress).

Key Responsibilities

UI Development

Build responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).

Component-Based Frontend

Develop reusable, well-structured UI components following design system principles, atomic design, or equivalent component-driven approaches.

Framework Development

Build interactive frontend experiences using modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, or Vue, depending on project needs.

CMS Integration

Translate frontend components into CMS-ready structures — working within AEM (HTL/Sightly, clientlibs, component dialogs) or other CMS platforms to ensure markup, styling, and behavior render correctly in authored pages.

Design Implementation

Translate Figma or similar design files into pixel-accurate, responsive frontend code aligned with design system tokens, spacing, and typography.

Cross-Browser & Device Support

Ensure consistent behavior and appearance across major browsers, devices, and screen sizes, including RTL support for Arabic and similar languages where applicable.

Performance & Optimization

Apply frontend performance best practices — lazy loading, image optimization, bundle size management, and Core Web Vitals improvements.

Accessibility

Build interfaces that meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, including semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, ARIA attributes, and screen reader compatibility.

API Consumption

Consume RESTful and GraphQL APIs from the frontend, handling loading states, errors, and data transformations cleanly.

Code Quality

Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following established coding standards, linting rules, and component patterns. Participate in peer code reviews.

Bug Fixing & Debugging

Troubleshoot and resolve UI defects, layout issues, and frontend integration problems using browser dev tools and standard debugging techniques.

Collaboration

Work closely with designers, backend/AEM developers, content authors, QA, and product owners in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on frontend development experience.
  • Proven experience delivering production-grade web interfaces on enterprise or content-heavy websites.
  • Hands-on experience working within at least one enterprise CMS (AEM strongly preferred; Sitecore, Contentful, Storyblok, or WordPress also relevant).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and within cross-functional teams.

Core Requirements

Frontend Fundamentals

  • Strong HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+) skills.
  • CSS preprocessing with SCSS or similar.
  • Responsive and mobile-first design.
  • Cross-browser compatibility and progressive enhancement.
  • RTL support and basic internationalization patterns.

Modern Frontend Frameworks

  • Hands-on experience with React (preferred) and/or Next.js or Vue.
  • Component-based architecture, props/state management, and hooks.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript.
  • State management approaches (Context, Redux, Zustand, or similar) as needed.

CMS Integration Experience

  • Hands-on experience integrating frontend work into at least one enterprise CMS.
  • AEM specifics (preferred): HTL (Sightly), clientlibs structure, component dialogs, editable templates, content fragments, experience fragments.
  • Awareness of CMS authoring workflows and the constraints they place on frontend code (e.g., authorable components, configurable content).
  • Comfort working alongside backend/AEM developers to align markup, data structures, and component contracts.

Design System & UI Quality

  • Translating Figma designs into accurate, maintainable frontend code.
  • Working with design tokens, component libraries, and shared style guides.
  • Familiarity with utility-first CSS (e.g., Tailwind) is a plus.
  • Animation and interaction fundamentals (CSS transitions, basic JS-driven interactions).

Tooling & Delivery

  • Git version control and standard branching workflows.
  • Frontend build tools (Webpack, Vite, npm/Yarn).
  • Browser developer tools for debugging, profiling, and accessibility checks.
  • JIRA or similar ticketing tools.

Performance, Accessibility & SEO

  • Core Web Vitals awareness and standard frontend optimization techniques.
  • WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
  • SEO fundamentals as they apply to markup, semantic structure, and metadata.

Nice to Have

•      AEM as a Cloud Service experience.

•      AEM SPA Editor experience (React).

•      Headless CMS patterns and GraphQL APIs (AEM Content Services, Contentful, Storyblok).

•      Experience with other CMS platforms (Sitecore, WordPress, Optimizely).

•      Familiarity with Adobe Target, Adobe Analytics, or Tealium for tagging and personalization.

•      Unit and component testing (Jest, React Testing Library).

•      E2E testing tools (Playwright, Cypress).

•      Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Adobe Cloud Manager, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

•      Arabic / RTL site experience.

Soft Skills

•      Strong problem-solving abilities.

•      Good communication and teamwork skills.

•      Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.

•      Strong attention to detail, particularly around design fidelity and UI quality.

•      Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
